User Understanding


When involved in an acquisition or divestiture, keep in mind the stress, fears, and pressures your user base is undergoing apart from the demands your project is adding to their reality.

This calls for patience and grace in abundance, including a personal visit or phone call instead of text/email/Skype, creating special instructions, scheduling, or a head start for some users, early or late meetings on occasion and other accommodations to help ease what could be an increasingly difficult time for several months.

Users are often wondering if they will have a job the next day and/or if they are training their replacement so keep this in mind when pressures rise or emails and calls go unanswered.
