A word that replaced the popular “same page” which means ensuring everyone not only understands the goal but is also ready for the goal.

It is one thing to agree you need to replace the financial application and entirely another to be willing to add staff and overtime hours to accommodate the change.

This of course will be something you have no control over whatsoever but will need to know from the department head if that is indeed needed and if they are able to deliver.

Alignment meetings often involve verbal support with respect to man-hours, time, and budget.  Be sure to follow up with meeting notes including attendance and a “decisions made” section, emailed to all in the meeting.

Without “alignment” aka stakeholder support, your project may stall or even be cancelled due to waiting for action not everyone is willing to take.
